British Blues Quintet
To introduce British Blues Quintet it is enough to list the names and biographies of its members. Maggie Bell, the Scottish queen of the blues, sang in Stone The Crows and then in mid seventies published two extraordinary solo albums: "Queen Of The Night" and "Suicide Sal". The guitarist Miller Anderson was a member of The Keef Hartley Band ("Halfbreed" and “Battle Of NW6" records), Savoy Brown and Chicken Shack. Zoot Money, the pianist, organist and singer, led The Big Roll Band during the British R&B boom in the early sixties and later was a member of The Animals. Colin Hodgkinson is one of the best British bass players. He started his career with Alexis Korner, in the late sixties he founded his own band, Backdoor, and later played with many big names in the music world. Colin Allen played the drums in The Big Roll Band, then in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Stone The Crows. This all star team gathered a couple of years ago and in 2007 they have released a CD "Live In Glasgow".
Planet Full of Blues
Imagine the guitar of Stevie Ray Vaughan mixed with the sound of Blood, Sweat & Tears and you will get the idea how the Planet Full Of Blues sounds. Their music can be characterised as guitar blues rock improved with the brass section and crowned with an extraordinary vocal. Their debut album, which received glowing reviews, was released last year. The title track has remained for the past several months on the Top 50 most aired blues songs on the radio stations all over America. This is going to be the first time in Europe for the guitarist and singer Johnny Ray Light, drummer Brock Howe and bass player Mike Connell. On their European debut they will be backed by: Darko Grujić (Point Blank), keyboard, Srđan Mijalković, alt and tenor sax, Petar Mijanović, trombone and tenor sax and Nikola Inić (Blue Family), trumpet.
Jumping Cats
The group was founded in 2003. Blues performed by this young Russian band is tinged with swing, funk, surf and soul. They have performed on all the biggest blues festivals in Russia, naming just a few: Moscow International Blues Festival 2008, Empty Hills, Neva Delta Blues, Swing Boom, etc. They play every Tuesday in the Moscow's Roadhouse club, and in their sessions they are regularly joined by the Russian blues musicians and the guests from various countries, among them: Rick Holmstrom, Enrico Crivellaro, Tad Robinson, Alex Schultz, John Primer, Lurrie Bell, Kid Anderson and others. Band members, Vladimir Rusinov, guitar and vocals, Mihail Belov, bass guitar and Ksenija Dubrovskaja, drums, are currently recording a DVD, which is going to be presented in Belgrade.
Desperate Slim & Newcasters
Desperate Slim & The Newcasters came into being by the end of year 2008 as a result of a long-time informal cooperation of two Belgrade blues guitarists: Goran Stojković and Vladan Stanošević. Their repertoire is based on R&B and roots rock standards, their interpretation adapted to the members' styles which, though different, create a new sensibility and sound. Since their inception they have been performing live in Belgrade clubs that promote this kind of music. From Robert Johnson to Sonny Landreth, from Chuck Berry to Los Lobos, the band is making an effort to convey the energy of the traditional American guitar sound. The band members are Goran Stojković (Desperate Slim) – vocals and guitar, Vladan Stanošević Stane – guitar and slide, Vladislav Filipović - bass and Milan Mirosavić - drums.
Texas Flood
The group was founded in 2004 by the guitarist and singer Nenad Zlatanović. From the very beginning Texas Flood nurtures the hard guitar blues rock. As a power trio with the rhythm section formed by the drummer Vlada Golubović and the bass player Ivan Čukić, they have been performing since the last fall. They have played on many significant blues and rock festivals in Serbia and the neighbouring countries, such as: Voxstock 2007, Blues Summit Podgorica 07, Danube Blues Fest Novi Sad 07, In Wires Užice 2008, Mostar Blues Fest 2008. In January 2009 they released their first album "Grinnin' In Your Face" for the Blues Time Records label, with seven compositions authored by Nenad Zlatanović. Raphael Wressnig, Little G and Billy Gibson (this year's winner of the prestigious Blues Music Award in the Instrumentalist-Harmonica category) all made the guest appearances on this album.
Gamblers
The group from Sremska Mitrovica was founded in 1984. As they say, they play for the very simple reason, because they love the music, various styles of blues above all. They have performed in many clubs and on almost all significant festivals in the country, always succeeding to transfer their overwhelming energy and love of blues to the audience.
To all band members, former and current (Marin Balenović – guitar and vocals, Aleksandar Stanulović - guitar and back vocals, Željko Bacalo - bass, Goran Nedić - sax and Dušan Ribarac - drums) Blues Stock Festival wishes to congratulate on the quarter of the century in music!
Di Luna Blues Band
The group was founded in 1989 by Sale Ranđelović and Dragan Marković Mare, one of the pioneers of the blues in this region, who founded the Blues Quinte in the late '70s and some time later, Point Blank. Di Luna Blues Band was founded with the one main goal, to share the joy of music and the love of blues through live performances. Throughout all these years, the band was the breeding ground of musicians who were leaving the band to play in popular bands of different styles. They have performed on numerous domestic and international festivals, while frequently sharing the stage with the greatest blues stars in the world. Celebrating their 20th anniversary, in addition to the current line-up (Vlada Migrić - drums, Marko Cvetković - bass, Aleksandar Vujičić Don Giovanni - guitar and vocals, Slobodan Negić - guitar and Dragan Marković - guitar) the band will be joined by the guitarists Ivan "Giba" Stanošević, Aleksandar "Zafa" Zafirov and Sale "Ranđa" Randelović.
